NFL · Week 6 · TNF wrap + injury desk (Friday designations)

Broncos 17, Seahawks 14 in overtime: Denver won ugly and its defence carried the night. On the Week 6 injury board, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are out and Michael Penix Jr. is cleared.

Wil Lutz kicked a 53-yard field goal in overtime after a Bo Nix and Sam Darnold night that neither quarterback will want to watch back. Nik Bonitto forced a fumble that Justin Strnad recovered, Kris Abrams-Draine and Ja’Quan McMillian intercepted Darnold, and Denver sacked him five times. Below that is the Week 6 board from the official Friday designations. Desk colour is labelled.

Denver Broncos 17, Seattle Seahawks 14 (OT) — Thursday Night Football, Week 6, at Empower Field at Mile High, Denver (Thu 15 Oct 2026 US / Fri 16 Oct Brisbane). Broncos 4–2; Seahawks 3–3. Source: NFL official game book; footballdb box score.

How it went

Jason Myers opened the scoring with a 55-yard field goal in the first quarter. Denver then scored its only two touchdowns in the second quarter, a 4-yard J.K. Dobbins run at the end of a 16-play, 74-yard drive and a 1-yard RJ Harvey run, to lead 14–3 at the half. Nobody scored in the third quarter. Seattle came back in the fourth through a George Holani 1-yard run and a Darnold-to-Rashid Shaheed two-point conversion with 5:41 left, and Myers tied it from 34 yards with three seconds on the clock. In overtime, Lutz hit from 53 with 4:53 left, and that was the game.

Desk colour: Denver won ugly. It counts the same in the standings, but there wasn’t much to enjoy about how it got there.

Nix and Darnold — a poor night for both

Bo Nix: 17 of 27 for 107 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions, sacked twice. Denver finished with 168 total yards, 13 first downs, 3 of 14 on third down and eight punts.

Sam Darnold: 27 of 51 for 278 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions, sacked five times (passer rating 52.6). Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 12 of 16 targets for 134 yards, and Seattle outgained Denver 353 to 168 without turning that into points.

Desk colour: both quarterbacks were poor, and neither offence gave you anything to build on for fantasy this week.

Denver’s run game — the only spark, and a dim one

The Broncos ran 28 times for 74 yards (2.6 a carry). Dobbins had 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown, and Harvey had 6 for 25 and a touchdown, adding 3 catches for 31.

Desk colour: the run game was Denver’s only bright spark on offence, and even that wasn’t great. The two short touchdowns did the work that the yardage didn’t.

The highlight — Denver’s defence

Nik Bonitto punched the ball out of Shaheed’s hands in the second quarter, and Justin Strnad recovered it. Strnad and Bonitto also had half a sack each. Kris Abrams-Draine had an interception and a forced fumble. Ja’Quan McMillian had the other interception and a sack. Zach Allen had five tackles and half a sack, and Alex Singleton led the team with 13 tackles. As a unit Denver had five sacks, two interceptions and a fumble recovery. Denver played without Patrick Surtain II (ankle) and Talanoa Hufanga, who were ruled out before the game.

Desk colour: this was the story of the night, and the reason Denver is 4–2. IDP managers with Singleton, Strnad or McMillian will be happy.

Week 6 injury board — official Friday designations

How to read this. Statuses are the official game designations (Out, Doubtful, Questionable) from Friday’s reports for the Sunday games, plus attributed team and league news. The Commanders and 49ers play on Monday night, so their designations come on Saturday (US). Inactives come out about 90 minutes before each kickoff. The first game is Texans–Jaguars at Wembley at 9:30am Sunday ET, which is 11:30pm Sunday Brisbane. Byes this week: Bengals, Lions, Dolphins and Vikings.

Saquon Barkley (PHI, hamstring) — Out, and Will Shipley (PHI, foot) — Out. CBS Sports expects Dameon Pierce to get most of the work. Source: CBS Sports.

What this item is not

There are no invented diagnoses, timelines, snap counts or rankings here. Every status is the official Friday designation or attributed team and league reporting. Deebo Samuel’s official Monday-night designation was not out when this was published. Inactives about 90 minutes before kickoff are final. Desk colour (Denver won ugly; Nix and Darnold poor; the run game the only spark and not a great one; the defence the story; the IDP note) is labelled as such.
