49ers roll the Rams at the MCG.

San Francisco 27, Los Angeles 7. Brock Purdy throws three touchdowns. De’Zhaun Stribling leaves on a cart. Mike Evans scores again. Aaron Donald was never on the plane.

The first regular-season NFL game in Australia was not a contest for long. In front of 100,021 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the San Francisco 49ers beat the Los Angeles Rams 27–7. Brock Purdy threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns. Matthew Stafford, the reigning MVP, finished without one and was pulled late. Source: Reuters; ESPN; NFL.com.

Stribling — ankle, Achilles intact, more tests

Rookie wideout De’Zhaun Stribling was carted off in the second quarter after pulling up on a route with no contact. It looked bad on the broadcast. Kyle Shanahan after the game: doctors checked the Achilles and said it was intact; they are “not exactly sure of the magnitude of the ankle injury.” More testing after the long flight home. No return week is published. For a thin San Francisco receiver room that already needed him clean, that is the bruise on a blowout night — without inventing a diagnosis. Evans keeps stacking the case

Mike Evans, in his 49ers debut: six catches on seven targets, 49 yards, a two-yard touchdown — career score number 109, first in San Francisco red. Contested catch, left corner, the same body of work that built a Hall of Fame argument in Tampa. Purdy found him early; the rest of the night the offence did not need to force it. Demarcus Robinson and Deebo Samuel also scored. Source: NBC Sports / PFT; CBS Sports; TSN.

Rams — travel talk, then the tape

Los Angeles flew in the day before and kicked off Friday morning local time. Some of the postgame talk will lean on sleep schedules and the 16-hour haul. Fair to note. Even if you set the jet lag aside, San Francisco just played the cleaner game — three Purdy touchdowns, Stafford yanked, the scoreboard never threatened after the middle of the night. Donald waits for home

Aaron Donald did not travel to Melbourne and did not play Week 1. The next chance on the schedule is Monday night, 21 September, Giants at SoFi — the Rams’ home opener. Whether he is active that night is not stamped: McVay’s camp has been “we’ll see” on Week 2 after a two-year retirement ramp. When he does return, the defensive line gets louder. That is the honest next chapter, not a guarantee for Week 2. Source: NFL.com; Rams.com; PFT.

What this item is not

No invented Stribling return week or surgery call. No stamp that Donald plays the Giants. No fantasy rankings — those stay on the weekly.
